What is EMDR?
EMDR is a type of therapy that helps people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress caused by disturbing life experiences. Research has shown that by using EMDR therapy people can experience benefits within a much shorter time period when compared to traditional talk therapy. EMDR helps the mind heal from psychological trauma similar to how the body recovers from physical trauma. The brain’s information processing system naturally seeks health and well-being. If the process is disrupted by the effects of trauma, the emotional wounds fester and cause mental/emotional suffering. Using the detailed protocols and procedures, EMDR helps to remove the block, so that healing resumes.
