Care that fits your life
You do not have to figure it all out alone.
Maybe work follows you home. The same argument keeps coming back. Or you know what you need to do, but getting started feels harder than it should. We will help you find a therapist who understands what brings you here and a way of working that fits your needs.
Individual therapy
Space to work through anxiety, burnout, grief, life transitions, and the pressure of holding everything together.
ADHD support
Practical, compassionate therapy for the ways ADHD affects your routines, relationships, emotions, and follow-through. We do not provide medication management.
Couples therapy
Help understanding the patterns that leave you disconnected and practicing new ways to communicate. Couples therapy is private pay.
Trauma and EMDR
Explore trauma-focused care with a trained clinician. Our team can help you explore online EMDR, online intensives, or an in-person intensive in the Triangle.
Coastal North Carolina
Specialized support, wherever you call home.
Meet online from a private space in Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, Morehead City, Beaufort, Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle, or elsewhere in North Carolina. All you need is a reliable internet connection and a place where you can talk comfortably.
Third Wave has offices in Raleigh, Durham, Garner, and Chapel Hill. Coastal clients receive care online; we do not have a beach office. Tell our team where you will be during sessions so we can confirm the right clinician and options.
Looking for focused time?
Make dedicated time for an intensive.
Meet with your therapist online from home, or make dedicated time for an in-person intensive in the Triangle. Depending on your treatment plan, that might mean several hours in one visit, with online appointments between visits.
EMDR and couples intensives are available online or in person with an appropriate clinician. Session length and frequency are planned with your therapist. Our team will confirm clinical fit, preparation, availability, and pricing before you book or arrange travel.
Ask about an intensiveA simple place to start.
1. Tell us what you need.
Use our contact form to share what brings you in, your scheduling preferences, and whether you are looking for online therapy or an intensive.
2. We will help with the match.
A real person on our team will help you explore therapists, availability, and fees. Once you have a fit, we will guide you through getting started.
A few things you might be wondering.
Can I work with Third Wave if I live at the beach?
Yes. We offer online therapy across North Carolina, subject to clinician availability and clinical fit. You do not need to live near a Triangle office.
Do you accept insurance for online therapy?
Some clinicians accept select insurance plans for individual therapy. Coverage depends on your plan, clinician, and service. Couples therapy is private pay. Our team will confirm the applicable fee and insurance options before booking.
Can EMDR happen online?
Online EMDR may be an option with an appropriately trained clinician. Your therapist will assess whether it fits your needs, setting, and treatment plan. Ask our team about current options.
Do I need to travel for an intensive?
No. Intensives can take place online with the appropriate clinician. You can also choose an in-person intensive at a confirmed Third Wave office in the Triangle. Your therapist will help you plan the format, length, and frequency that fit your needs.
There is room for you here.
You do not need the perfect words or a clear plan. Tell us a little about what is going on. We will help you take the next step.
