Annie Bradford, LCSWA

Therapist

My Approach

My style of therapy involves a strong focus on providing a safe space to be listened to and to heal. I believe that therapy should, at its core, be a compassionate and uplifting experience; at the same time, it should push us far enough out of our comfort zones that we are empowered to grow. I bring experience in treating anxiety and depression, and my specialty is resolving trauma, whether a PTSD diagnosis or more acute symptoms. I specialize in treating trauma because I find endless hope in the concept of individuals being able to reclaim their lives and their futures.

  • Experience

Prior to graduate school, I worked as an Employment Specialist with a social services agency in Milwaukee, where I helped connect individuals with serious mental illnesses to jobs in the community. My work taught me about the restorative impact of employment on mental illness – more specifically, I saw the value of structure and purpose in building a meaningful, stress-free life. This job gave me a foundation in working with mental health, and it helped me cement my interest in working as a therapist.

Throughout my graduate school experience, I had the privilege of interning at a community mental health clinic in Milwaukee, where I worked with children, adolescents, and adults. I saw a range of diagnoses, though I generally focused on anxiety, depression, and concerns relating to trauma. The clinic was bilingual, and the majority of my caseload preferred to speak in Spanish during our sessions, so I feel very comfortable working in both English and Spanish. It was during this time that I completed the Basic Training for EMDR and Phase 1 of Brainspotting, both body based trauma therapies. Currently, I pull from a variety of modalities in helping my clients to heal, and it’s important to me to find the techniques that work best for each individual person.
