My Approach
In my therapy work, I helps client to navigate through different stages of life and how they affect their presenting problems. I work with individuals who have dual/differential diagnosis using empirically validated techniques such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I use empirically validated behavioral therapies to allow me to take a focused, action-oriented approach to help clients change their behavior responses. I use motivational interviewing skills to empower clients to change by drawing on their own meaning, importance, and capacity to create change. I also design an environment centered around respect and healthy curiosity to facilitate the natural process of change, while honoring client autonomy.

Experience
Following five years of experience working with youth in social and school settings, I widened my experience to working with families and adults diagnosed with mental health and substance use disorders. I have worked in several different settings including private practice, at-risk youth programs, residential treatment programs, outpatient programs, community-based support programs, and student support services in Wake County Public Schools. I have experience working with clients of all ages presenting with all diagnoses and life concerns, working with clients on the full range of behavioral, emotional, family, and life skills issues they may seek to change in their lives. Areas I work with include, but are not limited to, anxiety, depression, social isolation, social skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and emotional regulation skills. I also have experience facilitating therapeutic outpatient groups.
