My Approach
I know that everyone is different even if they share similar experiences, and my goal as a clinician is to work collaboratively with each client to tailor therapy sessions to individual needs. I approach my work from a solution-focused angle, wanting to provide strategies and resources for clients to use in their daily lives. We will work together to discuss, reflect, and modify strategies as needed to facilitate growth. When working with younger individuals (children and adolescents), I will use play therapy methods to bring creativity into the therapeutic space. Part of the therapy approach when working with young people will include ongoing family communication – it’s important to help the family help the kids, too! The therapy space will always be a place to foster growth, trust, and progress in many areas of functioning.

Experience
My previous clinical experience includes working as a school-based & outpatient therapist in Chatham County, serving clients with a variety of mental health issues. During my master’s program, I had the opportunity to work in a school and with an organization that specialized in developmental disabilities. Each of these experiences allowed me to work with not only the individuals impacted, but their families as well. I have begun to develop my therapeutic toolkit by attending and completing training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and I continue to build skills in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
